CS2 Weapon Cases Explained

CS2 cases are locked containers that hold a pool of weapon skins, and each one requires a key to open in the real game. Our simulator recreates that process virtually, so you spin the same drop pool and watch the same reveal animation without touching your wallet or your inventory.

CS2 cases contain weapon skins that have four rarity tiers: Mil-Spec, Restricted, Classified, and Covert. Based on the case, also include a rare Special Item, such as a knife or a pair of gloves, and each tier has a lower drop chance than the one before it. Knives and gloves are above all the others in the "Extraordinary" or "Special item" slot, but they are much harder to get from a case CS2.

StatTrak versions record kills made with the weapon. Around 10% of eligible weapon-skin and knife drops receive StatTrak, although gloves and souvenir skins do not have StatTrak versions. In addition, Souvenir CS2 cases work differently. Souvenir Packages are connected to CS Majors and contain one souvenir-quality weapon skin from a relevant map collection. The weapon comes with gold tournament, team, map, or player autograph stickers applied to it.

Dead Hand Collection

Release date: March 11, 2026

The Dead Hand Collection added 17 community-created weapon finishes and 22 completely new gloves as rare special items. You can find popular Covert skins such as AWP | Queen's Gambit and Glock-18 | Fully Tuned. Unlike regular CS2 cases, its items are accessed through Dead Hand Terminals, which may appear as weekly rewards. Dead Hand uses a different opening system and adds more gloves to the drop pool.

Although it is technically a collection rather than a traditional new CS2 case, Dead Hand is the latest major container update. Its new glove designs also separate it from older collections that reused existing special-item pools.

Fever Case

Release date: March 31, 2025

The Fever Case added 17 community-created finishes, led by the AWP | Printstream, Glock-18 | Shinobu, and AK-47 | Searing Rage. Its rare special-item pool includes Shattered Web knives in Chroma finishes, which give players new combinations of Nomad, Paracord, Skeleton, and Survival knives.

Gallery Case

Release date: October 2, 2024

The Gallery Case introduced 17 weapon skins, including the M4A1-S | Vaporwave, Glock-18 | Gold Toof, and AK-47 | The Outsiders. Its rare drop pool continued to feature Kukri Knives, but the new weapon finishes gave the case CS2 a brighter, art-focused identity.
